Impulses - Brass Trio: Horn, Trombone, Tuba

Impulses represents instantaneous and improvisatory responses as an abstract concept. The work begins in rhythmic unity and disperses into a multiplex of musical waves that are in constant conversation with each other. As the music develops, the moments of rhythmic unity become fewer and the ideas become more chaotic until a large climactic section begins at measure 173. As the piece concludes, the work recalls a variety of previous musical ideas in a new way bringing the music to a rousing finish.
