The Sword of Orion - Solo Bass Trombone and Trombone Sextet

Inspired by Orion’s Sword and its surrounding awe-striking nebula, the atmosphere of this work is beautiful, yet mysterious. It is glorious, but dangerous. These contrasting elements are portrayed through the use of both harmonic clarity and ambiguity, and the speed, intensity, and predictability of the rhythmic pulse. This work takes the listener on a cosmic journey through Orion’s Sword and concludes with a boundless conglomeration of unpredictability and brilliance.
